MetaTrader or MT is basically a platform to make trades, it's a software. You have the version 4 or the version 5. Most of the globe uses version 4

MT4 is not only to make trades, you can also use indicators and check the assets charts on it, it's awesome.


99% of the brokers are compatible with metatrader, once you create your account on a broker, they will give you a Metatrader account linked to your funds.
